Running Tips
The running tips below offer you ideas to improve performance, weight loss or distance depending on what your goals are. Running is a great exercise. It's one of the most popular exercises people enjoy because it's so easy to begin and offers tremendous benefits. Got tips? If you've got running tips to share, please comment below. First off... See your doctor. It's always best to consult your physician before undertaking any fitness routine, particularly if you have not been exercising regularly. You should get the green light from you doctor before beginning. Clothes. Wear wicking fabrics to keep the sweat off your skin. Cotton is no good and will retain sweat and cool you down too quickly. This won't be comfortable for long. Also get running socks since they're designed for runners. Cotton socks lead to blisters, sweaty feet and overall discomfort. Sunscreen. Wear a hat to cover your head, face and ears. Sunscreen is important since repeated long exposure to UV rays damages your skin and leads to skin cancer. Support. Invest in the proper running shoes for your foot strike. Get a great jogging bra and or compression shirt for the gentlemen. It's worth the money to keep things in place so you can enjoy your workout without pain and discomfort. Hydrate. Either wear a jogging holster to hold your water bottles or a camel back hydration system to keep you hydrated during your run. Drink frequently to avoid dehydration. Warm up. Jog for a few minutes before running to get your body warmed up. After a few minutes do some light stretching of your legs, calves, hips and waist so you'll feel more limber in preparation for your run. Distance. Don't add more than 10% to your weekly runs. Too much too soon leads to injuries. Give you body a chance to adjust to the demands you're placing on it. Recovery. Take time to allow your body to recover from running. Don't do long runs back to back. Mix up your training to keep it interesting and to avoid injury or muscle strains. The above suggested running tips will allow you to enjoy your workouts. Running takes time to do if it isn't a fitness routine you're doing regularly. You'll want to commit to running most days of the week to get the benefits it offers and to improve your performance if you ever decide to participate in running events.
