Jogging In A Jug: Hype or Hope?

Is jogging in a jug a lifesaver for those of us trying to lose weight or is it really just hype and no substance.

It seems that trying to lose weight and keep it off while getting fit in the process is a hard task. It can feel almost impossible to stay on track when it comes to sticking with a diet, which is the reason so many different options are available on the market. From home delivery of Jenny Craig diet foods, to extreme methods like jogging in a jug, there doesn't seem to be an end in sight when it comes to choices. The problem is that many of them are simply hyped, and don't provide any evidence that they work. For example, jogging in a jug is a mixture of some common ingredients including grape juice, apple juice, and apple cider vinegar.

Hype

This miracle mixture was cooked up by a man named Jack Williams, who at 64 years old claimed that it helped him overcome his heart disease and arthritis. This farmer used the media to help sell the product by making claims that just a couple ounces of this mixture a day could prevent organ cancer, heart disease, arthritis, stop pain and help you lose weight. In the early 1990's the FDA found that there was no sufficient proof that the stuff worked, and even ended up destroying $77,000 worth of the product.

A Healthy Diet

This product is a perfect reminder that miracles don't usually come in bottles and if you want to get healthy and stay that way, it is going to take more work than simply drinking a couple ounces of a liquid each day. Eating a balanced diet low in saturated fats but high in protein, fiber and healthy fats is the best way to keep your diet and your figure under control. In addition, exercise on a regular basis will also aid in weight loss or management. Jogging is a great way to keep the heart healthy, get the body moving and to shed some extra pounds the right way.

Jogging For Health

Jogging is also a natural muscle toning exercise so you can kill two birds with one stone when engaging in it. A toned butt and thighs are the most obvious physical results of jogging, but there is much more to it. In fact, jogging can help improve your athletic abilities, your stamina and your commitment to exercise. You might even find yourself enjoying the sport, and signing up for some marathons.

Start A Tradition

Special occasions like Thanksgiving is a great way to get the whole family involved, since everyone typically gets together anyway. What's more is that you'll have the opportunity to start a new family tradition that can help promote healthy activity to all the generations that come after you. Just look for walking and running events in your area, you should be able to find one around the holidays.

Those who have certain health conditions or physical injuries such as bad knees might find it hard to jog for health, but there are certainly other options that have proven to be just as effective. Unlike jogging in a jug, walking, riding a bike, using a treadmill, or getting involved in yoga or Pilates are great options to help you toward achieving your fitness goals.
