Jogging Basics - What You Need To Know
Understanding jogging basics will help improve your performance, minimize injuries and allow you to really enjoy this activity.Lets begin with gear. Jogging is a relatively inexpensive exercise to begin. You won't need to spend thousands of dollars. It's still a good idea to wear comfortable, light colored, reflective clothing. This way you won't add to your body's temperature. Once you begin jogging you'll warm up pretty quickly. Comfortable, non-binding clothes that reflects the sun and is moisture wicking will allow you to continue jogging. The more comfortable you feel the longer you'll jog and the more calories and fat you'll burn. Good running shoes are critical. This is an essential and critical investment. Your running shoes are the crux of an effective jogging program. Without them you'll suffer from poor foot support. And, that'll only lead lead to shin splints, blisters, runner's knee and a host of other problems. Take the time to get the right running shoes for your foot strike. Chest Support. While moral support is terrific when you begin jogging we're talking here about jogging bras and compression shirts. A properly fitted jogging bras or compression shirt for the gentlemen is necessary. Proper chest support allows you to jog with minimal discomfort. This is also true for the gentlemen. Good support is necessary so you're both comfortable focused on reaching your goal distance. You don't want to be bothered with unrestrained upper body movement. Foot strike. Know your foot strike. You do need to focus on how you're landing. It's not good to slap your feet against the pavement. This will only cause strain and stress on your knees and hips. All that pounding reverberates up your legs leaving you feeling tired and sore. Soft, springy steps are best. Your foot strike begins with your heel hitting the ground first as you roll forward onto the balls of your feet. When you become tired, you're feet will tend to slap the ground more. It's best to recognize this and take a break. Lastly, you want to think about hydration. Keep a water bottle in your hand or around your waist. Drink a couple of ounces frequently. Your body needs to stay hydrated. If you're in the hot sun you'll want to drink more often. You'll be sweating lots and losing electrolytes. Be good to your body and replenish it frequently with cool sips of water. These jogging basics are a good start when you're new to this exercise. You want to enjoy your workouts and keep doing them successfully.
